Dispensary Depot is a patient owned and operated online store that supplies dispensaries with non-toxic containers, labels, and bags. Roger, one of the Successful Stoners from Dispensary Depot sent us his story and was also kind enough to answer a few of our questions.

How did you start your company?
We started Dispensary Depot because we saw a need for a truly patient owned dispensary supply store. My college roommate Kenny and I have family members in the plastic manufacturing business and found this to be a niche that we could both get sink our teeth into. We have been patients for over 10 years, but got our doctor’s recommendation a couple years back. I remember buying meds at this seedy dispensary in LA and the plastic containers had a distinct chemical smell. This is when a “light bulb” went on in my head.

What is your goal?
Our goal is to create a company that practices what it preaches. We want to supply safe, quality products so that patients like us are secure in the fact that the plastic that we are keeping our medicine is not toxic and harmful.

What are your views on Marijuana being illegal?
The legalization of marijuana is an event that should have happened a lot earlier. This new industry has been generating jobs, new businesses and ideas, and is keeping real patients out of jails. The prison industrial complex and big-pharma looks to lose a ton of money if cannabis is legalized throughout the country and they are probably not happy about it.

What is a Successful Stoner?
A successful stoner is someone that can wake and bake, but get his shit done when he has to. A successful stoner is person rich in buds (human and plant). I believe that all stoners can be successful, if they focus on what they are passionate about and make sure to prioritize lives.

http://dispensarydepot.com

Are you a Successful Stoner? Share your story!

Something amazing happened today. It was almost like an epiphany, the kind involving lightening and chimes. I even cried.

And then, I watched this:

You see, a person such as myself, one that has used cannabis on a daily basis for nearly a decade, is apparently a criminal according to the state of Tennessee. I, a person who is not a patron of the pharmaceutical industry in any way, am breaking the law by growing, possessing, consuming, and enjoying the benefits of a plant.

So now, I have to move to Tennessee. I have to move there because I refuse to let this kind of abject cruelty continue. I have to move there because other people should be able to move there without fear of becoming a criminal. I have to move there to change all that.

Tennessee is a beautiful state, steeped in a colorful history that includes the fact that it was the last state to leave the Union and the first to rejoin after that whole mess. It’s roots are in rock’n’roll and agriculture. How the hell is pot not legal? Clearly it’s a state filled with rebellion and innovation. The question then, is why no one else is speaking up. Where are the activists?

I bet they’re all too busy protecting themselves from the pervasive hand of the law.

Maybe it’ll take a bold big city gal like myself to saunter into to town and show ‘em who’s boss. Y’all.

“WHAT IF CANNABIS CURED CANCER” wins 2010 Stony Award from High Times Magazine (featured in January 2011 issue)

“I recommend an excellent documentary film, “What if Cannabis Cured Cancer,” by Len Richmond, which summarizes the remarkable research findings of recent years about the cancer-protective effects of novel compounds in marijuana. Most medical doctors are not aware of this information and its implications for cancer prevention and treatment. The film presents compelling evidence that our current policy on cannabis is counterproductive.” – ANDREW WEIL, M.D.

“A Hugely Important Film” –JULIE HOLLAND, M.D. NYU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

“A Must See Film” –MARIJUANA POLICY PROJECT, WASHINGTON, D.C.

Using original and archival footage, the 60 minute documentary presents highly convincing evidence that this forbidden herb has healing properties beyond any other plant on the planet— interacting as it does with the body’s own “endocannabinoid system” to keep us fit and disease-free. “What if Cannabis Cured Cancer” explains how we are all born with a form of marijuana already in our bodies, and when pot is consumed, the “endocannabinoids” inside us—along with any cannabinoids we ingest—fit together like a key in a lock, thereby promoting the death of cancer cells without harming the body’s healthy cells. A powerful and eye-opening film about the future of cannabis—and perhaps even the future of medicine. Narrated by Emmy-winning actor, PETER COYOTE.

Featuring interviews with DR, ROBERT MELAMEDE, DR. SEAN MCALLISTER, DR. JEFFREY HERGENRATHER, DR. DAVID BEARMAN, DR. MANUEL GUZMAN, DR. RAPHAEL MECHOULAM, and DR. DONALD ABRAMS

“One of the most polished, informative films on cannabis released in years.” –CULTURE MAGAZINE

Winner of the “Best Documentary” at the Williamsburg Film Festival.
Winner of the “Reel Peace Award” at the Berkeley Film Festival.
DVD’s have been provided to every member of the Los Angeles City Council, the Kansas State Legislature, the Marin County Board of Supervisors, and 100 selected members of Congress in Washington D.C.

A comedy puppet short, “Kurt Cannabis Meets Connie Cancer”, is a special bonus on the DVD of “What if Cannabis Cured Cancer” (Len Richmond Films). Directed by master puppeteer, Steven Ritz-Barr, it’s an outrageous bit of puppet theater, imagining a comical meeting, somewhere in the liver, between the mean, bitchy, diva, “Connie Cancer” (voiced by ROSEANNE BARR), and the cool, hip, and rather wise, Kurt Cannabis (“A Clockwork Orange” star, MALCOLM MCDOWELL). Their witty banter builds into a battle of wills, as evil Connie tries to destroy all the healthy cells in her way, while mellow Kurt is equally determined to stop her in her tracks. The comedy short ends with perhaps one of the funniest death scenes in puppet history. Written by BBC filmmaker Len Richmond, with creations by the great Russian puppetmaker, Eugene Seregin.
